Four Acts for Good

Consider this my most virtuous shopping spree yet.

This year, I wanted to do something that felt good all around. I love a good cause, but I also love the craftsmanship, tradition, and quiet beauty of things made by hand. So I got creative and found a way to merge my vices and virtues: supporting charities, celebrating artisans, and giving myself an excellent excuse to shop with purpose.

Each stop on my fortieth birthday tour - Venice, Bath, Dublin, and Turin - has its own charity raffle, with the prize being a curated box of four items hand-selected by me, sourced from artisans and makers whose work reflects the character and beauty of that place. Anyone can join in, and every entry helps make a difference.

This raffle is self-funded. I’m buying every item and covering all shipping costs, so 100% of donations (after payment processing fees) go directly to the charities I’ve personally researched and selected.

Terms & Transparency:

How does it work?
Each Act has its own raffle, with its own payment link and closing date. You can enter as many times as you like and for as many raffles as you like.

How are winners chosen?
Each €5 / £5 donation equals one raffle entry. After the close date, I’ll draw one winner at random and contact them directly by email. Winners will also be announced on Instagram.

How are donations handled?
All funds are collected through Stripe and transferred to the chosen charity after each raffle closes. The only deduction is Stripe’s small processing fee. I’ll share donation receipts publicly for full transparency.

When will boxes be shipped?
All boxes will be shipped throughout March 2026. I’ll cover all packaging and shipping costs.

What’s inside?
Each box contains four or more hand-picked items representing that city, like edible treats, homewares, stationery, or books, along with a handwritten note from me explaining why I chose each piece.

What won’t they include?
For ease of shipping and to prevent customs delays, boxes will not include alcohol, fresh food, or any other perishable items.
Where edible items are included, I’ll make every effort to avoid major allergens, though ingredients and handling may vary depending on the makers and suppliers.

Will customs or duties apply?
Import duties or taxes may apply depending on the destination country. These are the responsibility of the recipient. If your box is heading to the United States, I’ll package and label it very sensibly - because no one should pay extra just to make a kind gesture, and frankly, I refuse to let Trump-era tariffs ruin a perfectly good moment of joy.

Act I: Venice

Venice has given me more than I can ever give back. It’s a city that survives on heart, habit, and the hands of those who love it enough to keep it standing. That’s why I’ve chosen to support Masegni & Nizioleti, a small volunteer association of Venetians who quietly fight for the city’s dignity - cleaning graffiti from its stones, restoring the hand-painted nizioleti street names, and preserving the Venetian language - ensuring this important part of Venetian heritage is still seen, read, and recognised in the streets themselves.

Supporting them feels like saying thank you to every bridge and calla that’s held a memory for me.

The prize:

The winner of this raffle will receive a box containing specially curated Venetian treasures, hand-selected from my favourite artisans and independent makers. Each piece reflects the beauty, craftsmanship, and quiet decadence of the city I love most. Expect a mix of edible treats, elegant homewares, books, and small luxuries - at least four beautiful items, plus a few surprises.

Bath taught me elegance - not the kind you wear, but the kind you live within. Its crescents, symmetry, and soft limestone light are woven into how I see the world. I chose to support the Bath Preservation Trust because their work safeguards everything that makes Bath extraordinary: the architecture, the landscapes, and the stories told through its walls.

They protect the Georgian city I once helped share with visitors when I worked for them - and they continue to do so through their museums, exhibitions, and education programmes that keep history alive and relevant. Their stewardship ensures that Bath remains not a relic, but a living city of heritage and grace.

The prize:

The winner of this raffle will receive a box filled with carefully chosen treasures from Bath and the English countryside. Each item is sourced from local makers and heritage brands that capture the city’s elegance and wit. Expect artisan treats, timeless stationery, refined homewares, and indulgent bath or tea-time luxuries, at least four beautiful items, plus a few surprises.

There’s a corner of Dublin I pass often on my walks where the Capuchin Day Centre quietly does remarkable work. I’ve chosen to support them because they care for those in need with practicality and grace.

Every day, the friars and volunteers provide meals, clothing, medical care, and a warm welcome to anyone who needs it, no questions asked. Even from the street, you can see the steady rhythm of kindness that defines their work.

The prize:

The winner of this raffle will receive a box featuring hand-picked Dublin delights from my favourite local creators, historic shops, and Irish makers. Each piece celebrates the humour, warmth, and craftsmanship of the city I now call home. Expect Irish-made treats, cosy woolen comforts, books, and keepsakes, at least four beautiful items, plus a few surprises.

Act IV: Turin

Charity: Casa delle Donne Torino

Turin has long been a city shaped by strong women, from reformers and entrepreneurs to artists and educators. Among them was Queen Margherita of Savoy, born here in Turin, who used her position to advance women’s education, health, and public life at a time when few women were allowed such influence. I’ve always admired women in history who defied the expectations of their time, carving out space where none was offered.

Casa delle Donne Torino carries that same spirit into the present. Born from a women-led occupation in 1979, it has become a self-managed space where women can find support, safety, community and autonomy. The association offers listening services, psychological support, mutual aid groups, cultural activities and courses that help women rebuild confidence and connection. It also preserves feminist memory in the city, keeping the stories and struggles of local women alive and accessible.

The prize:
The winner of this raffle will receive a box of Turinese treasures, gathered from my favourite artisans and small producers in Italy’s elegant northern capital. Each item reflects the city’s sophistication, café culture, and deep sense of tradition. Expect fine chocolate, beautifully crafted goods, and small luxuries, at least four beautiful items, plus a few surprises.
